The Next AI Talent Shift Starts Beyond Prompts: Han Digital’s Saravanan Balasundaram

Saravanan Balasundaram, Founder & CEO of HAN Digital Solution, has authored a byline article in Analytics Insight examining an emerging capability the industry has begun calling “Loop Engineering” the discipline of designing, orchestrating, and continuously optimizing AI systems that can operate independently, evaluate outcomes, and make decisions without waiting for human intervention.
In the article, titled “The Next AI Talent Shift Starts Beyond Prompts,” Balasundaram traces the evolution of AI-linked engineering roles from Prompt Engineers, who helped users interact with AI models, to Forward Deployed Engineers, who embed within client organizations to deploy AI solutions and argues that the next frontier lies beyond both.
“The next phase of enterprise AI will move beyond individual assistants that help employees summarise documents or generate code. We are moving towards a world where multiple AI agents will collaborate across software development, cybersecurity, finance and other core business operations,” Balasundaram writes.
The article highlights that nearly two-thirds of new roles at India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs) now require GenAI, data engineering, or intelligent automation capabilities, as GCCs shift from executing technology roadmaps to shaping the products and platforms that drive global businesses. Balasundaram notes that while India’s current pool of engineers capable of designing and operating these agentic systems remains small, it is expected to cross 10,000 professionals within the next two to three years as enterprises move from single-shot AI deployments to always-on, agentic systems.
The piece also points to enterprise platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, Pega, ServiceNow, and Guidewire as critical ground for this shift, noting that talent combining deep platform expertise with AI capability has not scaled at the pace of adoption a gap the next generation of technology professionals will need to bridge.
“India’s advantage will not come from chasing every new AI title after it emerges, but from building a workforce and delivery ecosystem capable of adapting before the next role even has a name,” Balasundaram writes.
