Roles and Responsibilities

ROLE: ARCHITECT ABOUT THE ROLE You should be an energetic and proven engineering contributor with a successful history of participating on small dedicated teams as a dependable member. You will have a proven track record for delivering high quality products on time that meet or exceed the product requirements. You have to work with, collaborate with, and integrate into the larger engineering team working from the same development plan and coordinating tasks and objectives effectively. You will provide overall direction and guidance to the engineering team as well as to ensure that the technology strategies of International Engineering are implemented in Yahoo! India. You will be ultimately accountable for the overall quality of all products and properties. You will work in a dynamic environment on highly visible product and technology problems, defining, designing, implementing, testing, and releasing new features. You will demonstrate your leadership in both technology and product innovation. REQUIRED SKILLS: q 10+ years of professional software development experience developing mission-critical applications (preferably Web applications) in a production UNIX environment with at least 3 years in an architect role q Strong technical skills in C/C++, XML, MySQL, Oracle, UNIX, and Apache Web Server q Experience with Perl and/or shell-scripting q Experience with AJAX and client-side programming techniques q Experience with I18n and testing techniques q Strong knowledge of online technologies and architectures. q Strong skills and proven record of designing and implementing multi-tier web solutions that are scalable, extensible, and maintainable PREFERRED SKILLS: q Experience with Web Services, PHP q Experience in resource scheduling, task decomposition, and risk management in an Agile environment q Experience with Unicode/encoding and internationalization/localization
