Job requirements:

- MS/PhD  from a reputed academic institution with research experience in the areas of Machine Learning, Text/Web Mining, Information Retrieval, Multimedia and related areas. 

- Solid track record in research as indicated by patents and publications. 

- Willingness to work with engineering teams and deliver in a business environment. 

- Inter-personnel communication, team building and mentorship skills 

- Prior research experience in the Web domain and web-related technologies is a big plus

 The Principal Engineer is expected to have extensive leadership experience to guide the development team in technology matters. The engineer will work with other developers, QA engineers, project managers, and product managers to ensure that the application exceeds the customer's expectations.  The features developed must be functionally complete, reliable, easy to use, and supportable and meet the performance targets. 

As a member of the web team, the candidate will be expected to understand the specifications of required features, participate in analyzing the existing application, designing and formulating logic for new features, coding, testing, performance optimizing, and supporting the web e-commerce application.  

Candidate should be able to work remotely with design and technical lead engineers in the U.S. office. 

Qualifications: 
•	At least 8 years of industry experience in web development with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft technologies, such as: 
.NET and C#
ASP.NET and ASP
VBScript and JavaScript  
HTML/DHTML/CSS
XML/XSLT 
Web services 
Web 2.0 skills including AJAX  
•	Experience with enterprise applications and complex integration problems
•	BS in Computer Science or a related area 
•	Own end to end quality by engaging in unit, integration, and functional testing. 
•	Knowledge of site optimization techniques and internet/networking protocols 
•	Very good troubleshooting techniques 
•	Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 Primary Responsibilities : 
Principal Engineer is responsible for design, development, testing, and maintenance of a wide range of features in various products. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and extensive leadership experience in design and implementation of desktop or online applications. The engineer will work with architects, other developers, QA engineers, project managers and product managers to ensure that the applications meet the product offering values and exceed the customer's expectations. The products developed must be functionally complete, reliable, easy to use, and supportable and meet the performance targets. 
- Design and develop new products / enhancements using Object Oriented Design & either or both of Java and C++
- Work with product management and business owners to solve customer and business needs  
- Work with technical architects for architecture and technical roadmap 
- Lead the development team in identifying solutions and the associated costs
- Build and maintain a deep customer understanding through direct interaction and/or review of customer research data 
- Mentor and motivate the engineers
- Motivate and facilitate innovative thinking in developers, Development Managers and Product Managers. 
- Partner with the Product manager and Project manager on initial feasibility of new features 
- Maintain a cross functional product development perspective
- Own end to end quality by leading and engaging in unit and integration testing, automation and functional testing. 
Qualifications : 
- Experience working with remote US based product development teams preferred. 

Technical/Functional Skills: 
- Strong knowledge of OOD principles, with ability to map them to language of choice (VC++, C++ etc..) 
- Proven Online development experience using J2EE along with Desktop exp. 
- Ability to work with diverse platforms and describe interoperability paths between platforms and technologies (Web services, COM/COM+, XML/XSLT, SQL, Message Queues, SOAP, etc...) 
- System integration & web app development and deployment experience is plus 
- Experience with TSP/PSP and/or Agile methodologies is a plus. 
- UML and Use of enterprise design tools is preferred. 
- User interface-oriented design and development experience 
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
- 7-12 years of software industry experience 
- 5+ years of experience with C++/VC++ object oriented language and atleast 2-3 exp in J2EE. 
- Experience driving engineering and cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of accounting needs of small to medium sized businesses is a plus. 
- Hands on experience on Java is a plus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•	Total industry experience of 8+ years 
•	9+ years of development experience in a commercial software product company using technologies such C/C++, Client Server development, Java and Internet technologies, XML, and J2EE and/or other application server technologies, database systems (Relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, etc), file systems, OS kernels and/or related systems.
•	2+ years experience with managing product development projects and people (team size of at least 6). 
•	Must have shipped at least 2 commercial products through multiple releases.
•	Experience with design, development and deployment of scalable and deployable platforms using C++ in a UNIX environment. 
•	Proven ability to direct the activities of others in planning, organizing, scheduling, monitoring and evaluating.
•	Results oriented with proven planning and project management skills – experience using project scheduling and management tools to manage large complex projects to completion on schedule.
